Crooked Cog Network

The guys over at Blue Collar MTB are doing a great job with their blog. I've also noticed they've branched out and added two new blogs; Commute By Bike and Twenty Nine Inches. They've got an impressive list of "partners," (although I'm not sure how the relationships work) and I'm sure their visitor stats are growing by the week. As more and more enthusiasts visit blogs for product information, these guys will reap the benefits.

Why should the bike industry care about blogs like this?
  • They're run by professionals, not just an opinionated cyclist with too much free time.
  • People will begin to trust them more than some magazines.
  • They target underserved niches (affordable gear (!), commuting, and 29ers).
  • Unlike forums and review websites, their content can be easily syndicated with RSS.
  • Their posts get indexed by Google very quickly (try a Google search for "Raleigh M80" and see what you get).
